We planned to sail from Savannah on Monday, April 4th. We even had friends driving down to Savannah to wave merrily from the dock as we took Integrity out and on our way.
But, y'know, when you're going to be gone a year, details often pile up near the beginning of the journey and everything seems to take longer than we planned. As "embarkation day" approached it was clear they just weren't going to be able to leave on Monday. We called our friends Chaz and Pete and asked what the impact of delaying to later in the week would be -- on them. They said, "No problem!" So we reset the plan to Friday, April 8th. Pete and Chaz would come down on Thursday, take a bazillion pictures and wave merrily from the dock on Friday.
They got to the boatyard at about 5:30pm on Thursday, April 7th (extra credit if you know the significance of April 7; hint: 1964) and we went to dinner at Tubby's Tank House. Apparently Thursday night at Tubby's is the "hot girls and drunken guys" rendezvous spot.
We had a great dinner and agreed to meet on Friday morning (late) to go to lunch, run a few last minute errands and "hit the water".
And we did.
Our adventure (the "on the water" part) began at 1500 hrs, Friday, April 8th.
