Day 74: In Burlington, VT
Day 74: Tuesday, June 28th: The Burlington harbor is very exposed to the elements on all sides but the east. Last night the south wind built up and Integrity rocked and rolled at the dock. Not a comfortable feeling. But all was well this morning.
We are moored next to one of the quaint tour boats. They do a variety of cruises:
Here is Integrity next to her and pointed toward the rather flimsy breakwater. The sailboats near the breakwater are anchored:
We needed to do some more errands - laundry, post office, liquor store. Ruth did laundry and Bill did the other two.
We learned that Burlington has a free shuttle bus that takes you up to a pedestrian mall full of shops, pubs and great people-watching. It leaves from the foot of Main Street. This building sports "Winged Monkeys" on the roof and "Venus" on the sidewalk. You can see Bill in his sun protection, creating a breeze by walking while waiting for the shuttle:
A few blocks away is the mall with good shopping and eating establishments. We stopped in a pub and had delightful salads & sandwiches that served as lunch and supper. Neat area that goes on for 5-6 blocks:
After wandering around a bit we just had to have an ice cream cone at a local shop:
This statue sort of depicted the spirit of the mall:
Back at the bus terminal the flower gardens caught Ruth's attention. They were lovely but the sun was too low in the west to get good light. Ah, well, they were nice:
Back at the boat we did a few housekeeping items and turned in.
