Day 66: Sunday, June 12th:More work today to get ready for the trip up to Lake Champlain. Ruth did laundry in our washer & dryer and Bill removed the output hose from the macerator. Lake Champlain has a strict "no discharge" policy and they will make you get off your boat if there is any way to discharge waste. Bill also lowered the mast and boom to allow passage under the low bridges on the Champlain Canal. It is interesting to see all the boats, particularly the sailboats, with no masts. Here is how Integrity looked:

Our hull had gotten a severe brown "mustache" again so we cleaned it with some miracle solution that you just spray on and rinse off. Here are Bill and Karen from Candy Dish doing their hull the same way:

We had bought two new fenders of the round ball variety. Bill inflated these and Ruth was tickled talking about "the Captain's new balls":

We finished enough chores, and decided to take a walk through the small downtown area of Waterford. Along the way, we came upon this nice memorial park:

There were two topiaries on either side of the main monument that were unusual:

Many people had nice gardens in their small front yards. This garden had a vinyl picket decorated with whimsical things. Ruth loved it:

A short way from the Visitor Center is a walking trail that passes the Old Champlain Canal. The locks at the lower end of the canal have long ago been removed and what remains is a cascade of rushing water that now serves as a by-pass for water flowing down the Erie Canal and around the first lock of the Erie, Lock E-2, which is visible from the Visitor Center. Here is what the Old Canal looks like today:

The Canada Geese were all around the area. Ruth thought these two white geese might feel out of place but the Canada Geese paid them no attention:

At the end of the day Connie and Rick invited the gang for happy hour aboard Cori. Great fun!

We had dinner aboard and turned in.
