Day 63: Thursday, June 9th:The tidal current runs later each day and by today was against us in the morning. Candy Dish and Stephie's Choice chose to buck the tide and left early along with new friends on "Hearts Desire". We left about 9:30 am and had a little less to fight. Cori waited until about noon.

Integrity's sister ship, Adirondack, was in Kingston as well. We snapped this picture this morning as she passed us. That's Jeff at the wheel and friend Al navigating. Nice boat!

Today's first bridge was the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge. That's Adirondack in the distance:

It has some strange sort of underpinnings. We guessed to keep paint or parts off boats passing underneath:

Another of the Hudson River lighthouses. This one is in Catskill, NY:

We were tickled about the name of this bridge. It is the Rip Van Winkle bridge, named after the famous character in the story whose setting was in the Catskill Mountains nearby:

Ruth captured the Skipper at a really tense moment as he handled the wheel deftly with Big Toe. Sometimes we use Otto (the autopilot) but at this time Bill decided to steer. You can see we are in 32.2 feet of water on a course of 359 degrees.

Here is another pair of bridges. First is a rusty railroad bridge, then Castleton-on-Hudson Bridge. It carries Interstate 90 and is a pretty sky blue:

We decided to stop for the night at Coeymans Landing Marina -- in the middle of nowhere -- but it was a great stop! The marina had a good price for fuel (we filled up), free pumpout (we pumped out), a good restaurant on site (we ate yummy crab cakes there) and a well-stocked ship's store (we bought all kinds of stuff). Heddi, the apparent proprietor, could not do enough for us. Super stop!

Sadly, we took no pictures. Bill did get a chance to change that clogged fuel filter. And Ruth did loads of laundry.

And off to bed.
