Day 57: In Cape May, NJ
Day 57: Friday, June 3rd: During the night the predicted bad weather set in and it rained and was dreary all day today. Ruth went over to Candy Dish. Karen had been generous to offer use of her sewing machine to make pretty covers for the deck cushions. Ruth uses these a lot to sun bathe or read or both. Here is a picture of them on the forward deck taken a couple days later:
While that was going on, Bill, from Candy Dish came over to Integrity and helped our Bill change the oil and oil filters in the main engine and generator. They opted not to change the fuel filters. This may have been a mistake - see later logs.
As promised yesterday, we took more pictures of the area. This is the very narrow entrance to Utsch's Marina, where we are staying:
And some of the folks we got to know at last night's gathering. There were Mike and Stephanie ("Stephie") aboard Stephie's Choice. They are from Kingston, Ontario, but are not doing the Great Loop:
And Polly and Larry, aboard Pollyanna. They are doing the loop in a Holiday Mansion houseboat. That takes nerve:
Then there are Jack and Joyce aboard Almost Purfict, a Mainship 390:
And Ken and Geri on 2nd Twenty. This is the only time Ken wasn't smiling, for some reason:
Sadly, we didn't get a picture of our new friends, Bill and Karen, aboard Candy Dish. We'll have to correct that soon.
As you might guess, many of the above pictures were actually taken the next day when the weather permitted our peeking out of Integrity's door. Mother Nature was watering the world today.
