Day 53: Monday, May 30th (Memorial Day): We got an early start, for us, so we would be at the National Aquarium of Baltimore for their 9:00am opening. The Aquarium was excellent. It reminded us a great deal of the aquarium in Chattanooga, with multiple floors of huge tanks and a very large number of birds, mammals (like dolphins), fish and reptiles. They also had an excellent "Dolphin Show," during which the five trained dolphins performed many clever tricks. A highlight was a high jump to touch a ball suspended twenty feet in the air:

A favorite of the crowd was the "fluke splash," when the lowest four rows got drenched:

This trainer/dolphin team was particularly good. They did "nap time":

And showed us a cute example of imitation:

We would have included pictures of the beautiful fish in the aquarium, but they were just too quick. You'll have to visit the Aquarium yourself to see them.

In the afternoon, we toured the USS Constellation:

Then a tour of the Chesapeake Lightship:

And finally, we toured the submarine USS Torsk (SS-423):

These ships were very interesting examples of each type. It started to rain as we left Torsk, so we hurried back to Integrity for a quiet evening.
