Day 50: Friday, May 27th: Today was very pretty - which made us quite happy! We left the Chestertown Marina just as the dock was flooding again and bid adieux to James aboard Tireless as we turned downstream in the Chester River. We were sorry to leave as the biggest weekend of the year for Chestertown, the "Tea Party", was beginning. The "Party" celebrates a colonist protest against Great Britain, quite similar to the one in Boston harbor. It is a great excuse to close the town's streets and throw a huge party!
As we cruised down the Chester River, we were very impressed with the huge, prosperous-looking farms along the banks. This area is as much farmland as a waterman's area:
We did get a chance to see Joanne and Fred Geiger who keep their Monk 36, Another Ann in Rock Hall. We had cruised the inter-coastal waterway for a couple of days with them. They were kind enough to drive us to the local grocery and hardware stores. The friends one makes on the water are wonderful, and these two are super!
