Day 47: Tuesday, May 24th: We got underway early (7:00 am) and stopped across the narrows to buy diesel. Best price we have seen ($1.839/gal). Then headed back to St. Michaels to tour the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, which had been closed when we were there last Saturday. We were able to convince friend Malcolm Ringel to join us for lunch at the well-known Crab Claw Restaurant near the museum. We got two fair pictures of Malcolm and his 1946 Chevrolet stake-sided truck. Both Malcolm and his truck are gems!

We spotted Elanor, another classic Trumpy yacht tied up at the museum. She is a lovely museum piece herself:

The museum has outdoor and indoor venues. All the boats on display are originals, no "copies". Most are in excellent condition. Here is a smattering of waterman work boats at one pier:

There is an indoor display of an actual skipjack style workboat, F. C. Collier. Very realistic with mannequins and recorded dialog of a typical oyster boat:

And this well-done model of different oyster harvesting on the Bay:

When the marina closed we got underway and cruised about six miles up Hunting Creek, near the museum. This was a very pretty and quiet anchorage. The drizzle had stopped and the wind died down. Lovely spot to end the day:
