Day 362 - Sunday, April 23rd: Our anchorage mate, Ladyhawke left the anchorage as we were brewing our first pot of coffee this morning (about 7:00am).  It was all we could do to focus on them as we waved, bon voyage.  We left a good bit later, around 9:00am headed for another anchorage about 43 miles closer to Savannah.

Soon after we re-entered the ICW, our friends aboard Front Page passed us again.  We had a nice exchange on the VHF radio as they left us in their wake:

For most of the day we cruised among wide sounds and narrow channels linking them.  Here's a wide place:

We had decided to stay the night anchored in Queen Bess Creek because it was, 1) highly rated by the cruise guides, and, 2) close to "Hell's Gate."  The tide timing made the anchorage convenient to a morning departure…well you get the idea.  It was lovely, but shallow as we anchored.  Note the big old oak tree left of center in the picture.  That fellow must be 300 years old and he lives out in this marshland!

To the south, well, is also marshland:

It had been a very hot day and the south Georgia "no se'ums" lived up to their ferocious reputation as the sun set.  We recorded this last sunset on our Great Loop cruise by taking a dozen pictures.  You, and we, get to see three of them:

Tomorrow we will complete our Great Loop.  We can't express the mixture of emotions that phrase elicits!

Position tonight: N31 50.371 W081 08.607
