Day 356 - Monday, April 17th: Today was a sort of rest and do projects day.  Bill finished varnishing, David did more on the irrigation system, Diane did house and pool things and Ruth did some laundry and took a few pictures around the Hay's home.

Floridians have the most unusual mailbox supports.  We saw many in the Bradenton area and Palm Coast is not to be outdone.  This is a case in point:

    Here's another creative effort:

This palm in the Hay's front yard was brought back from failure by David's careful feeding and watering:

And here is a view of the Hay home from across the street.  They are working hard to eliminate grass:

Another remarkable feature of the Hay home is their garage screen.  It's a screen that rolls up electrically, like a garage door.  It's designed to keep the mosquitoes and other bugs out of the house.  The homeowner opens the garage door and the door from the garage to the house.  Then he opens all the windows and, in the Hays' case, the back patio doors.  All this allows for a constant cool breeze to waft through the house.

Here's the garage screen.  We had never seen one of these before, but they are common in this neighborhood:

By the way, it is opaque to people outside, but you can see out easily from inside.  Amazing!

This being our last night with the Hays, we decided to go out to supper.  We headed for the Hays' favorite BBQ place and "pigged out."

While we were waiting for our meal to be served, Diane related a story from long ago when a woman introduced herself as "Dorkus Baldo."  The name tickled Diane so much that she could hardly hold back the giggles.  Years later, Diane found some glasses that seemed to fit the name.  We all had to model the "Dorkus Baldo" glasses.

    First, Diane:

    Then David:

    Then Bill:

    Then Ruth:

Needless to say, we were all in stitches!

On the way back to the Hay marina, we stopped at Publix to let Ruth get some final provisions.

That capped another fun day, and sadly our last, with the Hays.
