Day 347 - Saturday, April 8th: TODAY IS OUR FIRST ANNIVERSARY SINCE DEPARTING SAVANNAH! Although we spent a few days away from the boat, it was one year ago today when we slipped the lines and started The Great Loop. We would never have guessed the adventures we are enjoying!
We notice that we have taken over 8,000 pictures in this one year! You, dear Reader, are spared from most of them! Sadly, we didn't get any today.
The weather was supposed to be nasty later tonight, so we opted to stay another night at the Monroe Harbour Marina. It was very reasonably priced and was a good facility right near the "old town." Besides, we needed to shop for groceries and stuff.
The harbormaster was nice enough to lend us the marina's pickup truck to do our shopping, so we were all set. We refilled our spare propane tank, shopped for various parts to do maintenance items, bought groceries, at two stores, and made a very nice exploration of Sanford in doing so.
We ate lunch back at the boat, and then did chores. Bill changed the engine oil and made some minor miscellaneous repairs. Ruth did more cleaning up.
Later, we had a short happy hour with Buddy and Mary aboard Puffin, a lovely 42-foot Kady-Krogen trawler. They are hoping to do the Great Loop this year, although they have already done nearly a third of it. They are from western New York and have cruised the boat down to Sanford for the last three winters.
We had supper aboard and planned our trip back down the river.
Sorry, no pictures of our workday activities.
