Day 346 - Morrison Creek to Sanford, FL
Day 346 - Friday, April 7th: We were up early today. As we made preparations to get underway, we noticed this little guy had been poking around our boat. Look closely….

We left Morrison Creek where we were anchored and again turned upstream. It wasn't long before we once again felt like the only humans who had ever been here:

However, around the bend was a big facility that rents houseboats to the tourists. This is a popular form of boating on this river:

The St. Johns River is a study in contrasts; compare this boat to the houseboats:

We guessed it was sitting on the bottom. We've never seen a boat that big being used as a planter!
We had noticed that the riverbanks were lined more and more with cypress trees; they're really pretty:

The next surprise was when we rounded a bend and came bow-to-bow with this 100+ foot long tour boat based in Sanford:

We learned later that it makes two to three trips a day down the river, carrying folks for a sightseeing lunch or dinner:

We soon entered Lake Monroe, the southernmost point a boat like Integrity can navigate. Lake Monroe is another large lake on the river and in sight of Sanford. Sanford is a relatively large town, only about seventeen miles from Orlando. That makes it a virtual suburb these days.
We had a slip reserved at the Monroe Harbour Marina, a very nice facility:
