Day 336 - Tuesday, March 28th: We piddled around this morning hoping to get good timing on current and tides for our short trip up the St. Johns River to downtown Jacksonville.  Ruth did some laundry aboard while Bill changed the fuel filter.

We got underway about 10:30am with Summertime.  Since our camera was inoperative, Roxanne on Summertime took all the pictures of the day; thank you, Roxanne!

We cruised with the current up to where the Intracoastal Waterway crosses the St. Johns.  When we turned upstream in the St. Johns, there was a very strong current against us - about three knots.  The buoys showed it clearly:

In a few miles we began to see the evidence that Jacksonville was a busy harbor.  These freighters were loading various cargoes:

This container ship was finalizing her deck cargo:

The first bridge was rather pretty and reminded us of the Sunshine Skyway in Tampa:

Of all the ships and boats that have passed us over the many thousand miles, none had a bigger wake than this big tug boat:

Roxanne got a picture of Integrity beside a very big passing freighter. We gave him a wide berth!

This was a rather neat photo of Integrity lined up with the next two bridges:

We arrived in Jacksonville among the various skyscrapers.  This is the most impressive skyline we have seen since leaving Chicago:

Because of the 3+ knot current, we couldn't maneuver into our assigned slips at the River City Marina where we had reservations.  So we tied to the fuel dock face and waited for slack water.  It finally came about three hours later, and we moved to our slips.  We were laced in by the time the current started the other way.
