Day 331 - Port Orange to Palm Coast, FL
Day 331 - Thursday, March 23rd: We got underway about 8:30 this morning and pulled over to the fuel dock. This little structure greets boats arriving in the marina, and is between the transient docks and the fuel dock:
We figured we could not quite finish the Loop with just the fuel we had on board (Integrity can make about 1,000 miles on a tank of fuel). However, prices in this area are not the best. We took on 100 gallons which should take us all the way up the St. Johns River and back, then to Savannah. We will buy fuel at the cheapest place between here and Savannah.
Summertime was loafing her way north as we caught up. The current was against us (as it always seems to be), but we cruised leisurely north to Palm Coast, a lovely community with lots of canals and homes. This is "International Speedway Boulevard Bridge" in Daytona. It had pretty murals on all the supports:
This is looking back at the four bridges crossing the waterway:
Our long-time friends from Atlanta, David and Dianne, had insisted that we stay at their dock although they were out of town. We decided to avail ourselves of their offer and tied to their dock. This is the scene we saw as we approached their dock: their next-door neighbor's boat:
Just past Latigo was the Hay home. This is the back yard and lanai. Very nice!
This is the view from the Hay's lanai. Integrity looks pretty good from here:
Here's Summertime rafted outboard of us:
And the whole gang, including the Hay's deck boat on the lift:
Just about the time we were tying up, a rain squall line moved through and rinsed off the boats and us. It was very damp, but our spirits were high. We had happy hour with our "raft mates." The skies soon cleared and we spent a very quiet, peaceful night here.
