Day 330 - Wednesday, March 22nd: Roxanne and Lenny (Summertime, buddy-boating with us) had Lenny's bike in the shop and had to pick it up this morning. So we did chores while we waited.

Ruth was washing the boat and wanted to rinse her sponge. When she did so, she discovered Mr. Manatee enjoying the water leaking from our hose:

Man! You talk about UGLY! This old guy had barnacles the size of baseballs on his back. Happily, we didn't see any prop scars. Can you make him out?

We got underway about 10:30am and had a long upwind day northward. We spotted the lighthouse at Ponce de Leon Inlet not far from New Smyrna Beach:

We continued on a few miles and arrived at the turnoff to Adventure Yacht Harbor. It's near South Daytona Beach. Thank goodness they had a sign out in the channel telling us where they were:

It turned out to be a very pleasant and protected marina:

The "Boondocks Restaurant" in the marina was very popular with the locals:

But it only had outdoor dining and it was a chilly day, so we decided we would eat aboard.

Before supper Ruth and Roxanne went for a walk on the beach. Being on the Atlantic coast, it was sandy, but hard sand. And very pretty!

They drive cars on this beach (something you could never do on the Gulf of Mexico beaches):

There are at least a few controls on traffic:

We guessed we were in the Atlantic Flyway at first as these birds flew north. They looked like Canada Geese, but we realized they were just more pelicans northbound…

This was fun. Can you tell where the wall starts and ends? Clue: The stair is real:

Here is another unusual home. People think of unique ways to minimize hurricane damage; these folks paved the seaward side of their land. The bank is concrete with holes for plants to grow:

While Ruth and Roxanne were taking their walk, Lenny and Bill were trying to plan the next couple of weeks' travels. The girls got back and snapped this picture of the boys waving from Integrity's bridge. That's Summertime on the left (Integrity on the right, of course):

It had been another good day!
