Day 318 - In Fort Lauderdale, FL
Day 318 - Friday, March 10th: This morning we had a chance to check out the extensive facilities in Bay Harbor Marina.
This is the entrance to the Dock master's office. The grounds are very nicely groomed:
Here is Integrity, snug in her berth. The marina is way up the South Fork of the New River, so is very well protected:
Several apartment buildings surround the marina basin; the area is very attractive:
The amenities here are impressive; the pool and surroundings are first class:
There is a well-equipped exercise room in the "club house." We took this picture through the glass wall, not realizing the glass had spots on it:
They have an "internet café," which is just a room with two computers on a high-speed connection. There's a station where one can plug in a laptop also:
Anyone for the other kind of pool?
This fountain is in the main foyer. You can see the resident turtles on the little rock in the lower pool:
There was a "theatre room" with comfortable chairs, several giant TVs and a popcorn wagon full of popcorn. And there was a coffee bar with a variety of flavored coffees free for the taking. They had facilities for playing cards, reading, etc. There was even a very nice meeting room.
After all these luxurious facilities, we spotted the laundry facilities for the marina. It made us realize the impressive facilities were mostly for the residents of the apartments:
One of the washers was out of order. Oh, well.
Ruth bummed a ride to the grocery store with "Cap'n Joe," a dock neighbor. Meanwhile, Bill worked on these logs.
In the evening, one of Ruth's friends picked her up and they went to the second in the series of lecture/workshops we were here for.
