Day 30: Saturday, May 7th: This morning the storm had moved up the coast and it dawned beautiful. Bill went out and took the following pictures.

This 10" deep bucket was on our back deck during the rain. We noticed it had filled with rainwater about 30 hours into the 36 hours of rain:

These are the boats with the worst damage to their Bimini tops. Ours came through fine:

To realize the true force with which Integrity was pulling at her lines, you had to see the chafing of the pilings. Our lines will wear out at this rate:

With better weather predicted, we got underway and finally headed to Oriental, NC, a short seventeen-or-so miles north.

We pulled into the harbor at Oriental and headed to Oriental Marina - THE place to be. It is to the right of the red roof building:

Oriental has the most prosperous-looking shrimping fleets we have seen:

We wandered around the village of Oriental, had a pizza - Ruth was about to go crazy for a pizza - and back to the marina for some laundry and boat washing. Supper at the marina restaurant and to bed early. Long day tomorrow.
