Day 286 Monday, February 6th: About noon today we walked over to Burdine's, the next marina over and had lunch at their upstairs restaurant, the "Chiki-Tiki Bar and Grill."
Last Saturday (Day 284) we watched Lady Val moor in our marina. Here's a better perspective of size taken from the restaurant:
Bill was fascinated watching Ruth engulf hers while a neighbor from the next table took our picture. You can see the lovely setting of the harbor behind us:
The next order of business was to walk the six blocks to Marathon Boatyard to sign the yard work order and contract and to finalize plans to have Integrity hauled out. Our hope was that we would be able to find and fix the problem while still in the hoist slings, but that was a very long shot.
Next, we walked across the street (US Highway 1) to the "Blue Waters Motel" to make a reservation for the days Integrity would be out of the water. This is an "old Florida" motel. We decided that meant it was in Florida and it was old. However, it was very clean and offered a discount to customers of the boatyard.
We saw our new friends who are veteran Loopers, Barbara and John Lyon, chatting on the lawn with another couple, so we joined them. Everyone was a boater or former boater, so we passed some time with boat-talk. The Lyons took us back to our marina in their car; nice folks! We hope to see more of them.
We noticed two manatees loafing around in the marina basin. Photo op!
Back at our slip, the resident pelican had taken up his afternoon roost on the piling next to the fish cleaning station, hoping for someone who had a good fishing day to come by:
