Day 275: Thursday, January 26th: We awoke with Integrity sitting on the bottom, so had to wait for the tide before we could leave the marina.

As we left our slip, Ruth snapped a shot of the "outhouse," the dock's pump out facility:

Once underway, we tiptoed through very shallow water to work our way out into the Gulf. We had better luck than this poor fellow. He was yet another victim of the recent hurricanes:

Clear of the shallows, the day was pretty. The wind picked up, but the seas were only about one foot. Look closely to the left and you will see an unspoiled shoreline of Florida. A rare sight!

We left the Gulf at Indian Key Pass and took a fork into Russell Pass. These are little passages that go between the mangrove islands in the Ten Thousand Islands area. Indian Key Pass is the main route to Everglades City, a few miles back off the Gulf.

We dropped anchor in a completely deserted spot in Russell Pass. One small fishing boat went by the entire time were here. It was very quiet, but there was a strong tidal current:

We hoped to spot an alligator among the mangroves but none appeared. Here is a close view of the mangroves:

We were treated to another pretty sunset:

The evening was delightful with billions of stars winking at us. Ruth settled into one of her favorite places and caught up on some reading. This is how she looked when Bill said, "Smile!":
