Day 270: Saturday, January 21st: This morning, good friends Diane and David arrived with their nice Buick SUV to take us on a tour of the shelling island of Sanibel. They looked good!
We had a delightful lunch and then went on a serious shopping spree looking for shells. Diane enjoys doing crafts involving shells, and this is a Mecca for shell-hunters. You thought they get them on the beach? We saw thousands of shells (for sale) and bought a few. It was fun.
Driving back through these barrier islands we spotted this "front yard" full of cacti (cactuses?) The variety was impressive:
Bill relaxed with his favorite beverage and we discussed all sorts of things:
It was another wonderful day in paradise. The temperature today was in the low 80s.
Oh! One more thing! Late yesterday Ruth walked back to the Edison/Ford estate for some amplifying pictures, and on the way back got this picture of the most nasty thorny tree we have ever seen. These thorns are HUGE. The sign on the tree said it was some sort of kapok tree but our research doesn't say anything about thorns on kapok trees.
