Day 269: Friday, January 20th: Today turned out to be a workday followed by a visit from some good friends.
We started out a little late this morning so had a good breakfast and began to do some cleaning. Ruth then decided to do some more waxing of the boat. She wanted to check out our new buffer we bought for the job.
First she washed the boat. Then she waxed. And waxed. The buffer was doing a good job and so was Ruth. Meanwhile, Bill got out the cruise guides and planned our trip down to Key West, selecting anchorages and marinas that would be nice but not cost a king's ransom.
Late in the afternoon our very good friends Diane and David Hay arrived in town. We have known them since 1967. David was our first dentist in Atlanta back then, and Diane was his receptionist/hygienist. A few years back they retired, sold their Atlanta home, bought a 53 foot Pearson sailboat and cruised much of the western hemisphere. It was a thrill to see them again!
They came over to the boat and we got caught up with them during happy hour:
We made plans to get together tomorrow with the Hays and then turned in.
