Day 265: Monday, January 16th: Today we did a lot of walking around exploring downtown Ft. Myers. The center of Ft. Myers is nice, but suffering from urban sprawl. That is, the center of town is rather vacant except for a few government offices, the Federal Court and some nice restaurants.
We walked about a mile and a half to an auto parts store so Bill could buy an oil filter for the main engine. We then walked to Centennial Park downtown, where there were many people celebrating the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. The first thing to catch our eye was this sculpture of Henry Ford, Thomas Edison and Harvey Firestone, three good friends who liked to winter in Ft. Myers.
Gayl and Dick Glover, our friends aboard Starsong came over for happy hour. We had fun catching up with them on our various adventures since seeing them last April.
We decided to stay in this marina for about a week there are lots of Loopers in the area, and there are lots of things to see and do.
Supper aboard and then to bed.
