Day 26, Tuesday May 3rd: By the time we were up and finished breakfast, all twenty of the other boats had left Mile Hammock Bay. We continued our way north past Swansboro, through Bogue Sound enjoying one of the prettiest spring days one could ever ask for. We pushed on past some nice waterfront homes, then into the Moorehead City and Beaufort, NC complex of activity.
We had heard so much about the charm of Beaufort, NC that we really wanted to see it ourselves. Besides, NOAA was predicting some nasty weather on the way (they have predicted nasty weather five of the last seven beautiful days. We pulled into the Town Creek Marina, about a mile from the Beaufort waterfront and historic district.
Bill arranged to have a technician to look at the VHF radio first thing in the morning. We had an excellent dinner of Mahi Mahi in the restaurant with Craig and Jack Dozier, friends we had met at the AGLCA Rendezvous.
