Day 253: Wednesday, January 4th: Today our plan was to get underway and go a scant thirteen miles to visit friends in Cortez, FL. We would tie up at their slip behind their condominium and visit for a day or so.
We got underway about 10:30am and cruised slowly down the Manatee River into Tampa Bay and turned south down the Gulf Intercoastal Waterway. It was a beautiful day.
We arrived at the "marina," the condo's private docks about noon. Our friends, Casey and Bob (boat name: CaySea) were there to greet us. We had met them in Deltaville, VA last spring. They were doing the loop in seven months and the last time we had seen them was at Drummond Island near the Macinac Straits in Michigan last August.
