Day 178: On Lake Chickamauga, Tennessee
Day 178: Thursday, October 13th: Here is a view of the large marina we are spending a few days in; Island Cove Marina on Lake Chickamauga. Back in the 1950s, Bill's mom and dad often stayed here in their boat on their way to or from an Alabama-Tennessee football game in Knoxville. Back then the marina was called the Lorett Villa marina:
Integrity is berthed in a covered slip which makes for nice shade and less dirty decks in the mornings.
We had invited various friends from Atlanta to come visit for a day. Carolyn Barlow took us up and drove up this morning and it was good to see her after several months away:
We decided to go for a "boat ride" around the lake. Here is the view we had of the lake as we started out; it was a perfect day:
The vegetation and rocks along the shores of the lake make pretty scenery:
A short way upstream we got a glimpse of the 460-foot cooling towers at TVA's Sequoya nuclear power plant:
Along the bank across from the power plant were some big high-dollar homes. They were quite impressive with nicely landscaped yards:
We enjoyed supper aboard with Carolyn catching up on happenings, but then she had to leave to drive home to Atlanta.
