Day 157: Thursday, September 22nd: We met Jerry and Nancy at 7:00 for breakfast at the Barkley State Park Lodge. This is a fascinating facility made of post and beam wooden construction; it's huge. The main room ceiling is about thirty feet high with over 100 wooden posts supporting the roof:

Today we got a picture of the brand new marina:

Bill is a stickler for "walking the hose dry"; that is, getting all the water out of the hose so it doesn't develop a taste. As a result, Bill gets to coil the hose in preparation for leaving:

We got underway and headed back out Little River to the lake. This house was rather large and had a beautiful setting overlooking the lake:

We turned north, downstream, and cruised up to the Barkley Canal which connects Barkley Lake to Kentucky Lake at their north ends. This is the entrance to the canal:

Heading up (south) Kentucky Lake we passed many inlets and bays with sandy beaches. Here's one on the LBL (land Between the Lakes) side:

About twenty-five miles down the lake, the US Highway 68 bridge crosses the lake. This is the only bridge across the lake:

Just past the bridge we turned into Kenlake State Park and moored at the marina. It was about 4:00 pm and we were the only transient boat there. Quiet:

It's interesting that several marinas on the Tennessee River are built using old barges. This one was about 80 feet by 120 feet and houses a restaurant, the marina office, ship's store and storage. Upstairs they planned to put in a big party room/dance hall:
