Day 128: Saturday, August 21th: Weather forecast was for moderate winds and clear skies. We planned a short eight mile run across the St. Mary River, also known as DeTour Pass, to the little town of DeTour, Michigan. We got up early and were in DeTour before the wind kicked up any seas to speak of.
We moored at DeTour Harbor Marina that was owned by the Michigan DNR. It was operated by the town:
We had been traveling with a one-of-a-kind trawler named Daisy since arriving in Gore Bay. The owners, Vern and Mary, live in DeTour and invited us and the crew of CaySea to a BYOM (bring your own meat) cookout at their house. We begged off and went for cocktails only as we had planned an anniversary celebration dinner at the Mainsail Restaurant and didn't want to miss that. It was fun to be in a real home for a change, and we had a good time with them and at dinner.
The weather was supposed to still be very windy tomorrow, so we decided to stay here one more day.
