Day 125: Thursday, August 18th: With the lousy weather predictions in mind, we left Little Current about 9:00am after a stop to pump out the holding tank. We headed west and threaded our way through the near islands in worsening seas, increasing winds and showers. Fresh blueberries and cinnamon rolls raised our spirits, and we pressed on to Gore Bay. It wasn't more than 28 miles away.
Gore Bay is a nice little town about in the middle of the north shore of Manitoulin Island, the island that lies east/west and forms the more-or-less protected waters of the North Channel of Lake Huron. Manitoulin is the largest fresh-water island in the world.
We moored at Gore Bay Marina (they offer wi-fi internet). While it wasn't a big, busy place, it was spread out. That white-front building is where we had to go to check in - and use the internet:
This unusual building was just south of our pier. It housed a restaurant and was designed to host parties, conventions, weddings and what-have-you:
