Day 123: Tuesday, August 16th: After a pleasant night, we got underway early and continued up Baie Fine to a cul-de-sac sort of bay at the end called "The Pool". There were five other Loopers in the anchorage - Pollyanna, We Be Blessed, Et Cetera, Roy El and Another One.

We got in about 11:30am just as everyone was planning to dinghy ashore and hike to Topaz Lake, a lake in the mountains that was supposed to be spectacular; we joined in.

The trail followed a rocky dry creek bed uphill. At least it was pretty dry today:

We passed a couple of hardy people portaging their canoe from the lake down to The Pool:

It's hard to tell, but this is a steep hill:

We were following blue trail blazes. We didn't know it at the time, but we should have forked onto this yellow trail; it went to Topaz. Four of our group decided to go that way:

After about 45 minutes we came to the top and this view. Quite pretty:

After a rest, we headed back down:

After we got back to the dinghies, the girls (Polly, Elvie and Ruth) decided to go back up and take the yellow trail to the real Topaz Lake. We learned from some other hikers that's what we should have done. This is the REAL Topaz:

You could see down into the water about ten feet:

Much of the shoreline was quartz cliffs:

Back at The Pool we got this picture of "Lady Evinrude"'s cottage. Actually, she is the wife of outboard motor magnate, Ole Evinrude. She pulls her 105 foot yacht in to the dock and powers the cottage with one of her yacht's generators. The wait staff cooks on the yacht and serves the meals in uniform with white towels draped over their forearms. At least, that's what we were told. The cottage:

A little before nightfall, there were seventeen boats in the little bay:

Looking north from Integrity's stern, you could see Lady Evinrude's cottage and the little white mountain Somewhere up there is Topaz Lake:

Everyone gathered on Pollyanna for cocktails (seven dinghies) and swapping of sea stories. It was fun.
