Day 100: Sunday, July 24th: Benchmark! 100 days of doing the Great Loop!

When we woke this morning we braced ourselves for a long wait for the mechanic. After all it was Sunday and the poor guy had worked all day Saturday plus his regular week.

However, at 9:00am sharp, a DC Marine truck pulled up beside Integrity and Don and Danny hopped out and went right to work. It turned out that Integrity's overheating problem was due to a chewed up sea water pump impeller. For the non-mechanics among us, that means no cooling water was getting to the engine. This is the remains of the impeller; those bumpy places are supposed to have vanes one them:

Don and Danny made short order of the repair. They charged a very reasonable price even though it was Sunday. We topped off Integrity's water tank and hurriedly got underway. We had lost another day.

Today we wanted to make it as far toward Trenton, Ontario, as we could. It was about 65 miles and more than we had time to travel today.

In the Bay of Quinte, a popular sailing area, this ferry pulled out headed right for us. Fortunately, he missed us!

We noted that since leaving the Rideau Waterway, there are many navigational aids that look like tiny lighthouses. They are very easy to spot from a distance:

After about 6.5 hours and 45 miles of cruising we were a few miles east of Bellville, Ontario, a small town on the water. We found a nice bay nearby in which to anchor; about eight sailboats had the same idea. There was plenty of room for everybody:

After a short while the boat behind us had guests. This "rafting" or "nesting" is fairly common:

Showers and thundershowers were predicted for the night but never developed. We slept well in a nice breeze.
