Esmeralda Rally XI -- Fall, 1998 The Rally, the the largest group ever, was held on October 10, 1998, ran for just over five hours (the longest one to-date) and again ended at the Old Clayton Inn, Clayton, GA. We started the Rally at 11:30am at the Rest Area just before I985 breaks off from I85 north of Suwanee. 1997's criticism that the Rally was "real easy" were put to bed in 1998.   In fact, not one single car reached Checkpoint #1 within the five-minute maximum late error limit! The winners of the 1998 Esmeralda Rally were Joe and Cathleen Blumberg.   This makes them the third repeat winners; come on, the rest of you! Back to the Esmeralda Rally...
