6900 Hunters Knoll Remodel Project

July 20th

Oh....My...God!

Once the forms were removed and we
could focus on the "real" size of the
new family room -- we found that it
    just isn't big enough!

Don't get me wrong; the foundation is exactly the size it shows on the plans.  The room is supposed to be (and is) 18' x 22'.  But we (Gael and I) had it in our minds 90 degrees rotated with how it fit onto the house.

Y'see, there's a 4' x 11 hall that comes off the 18' dimension.  This leaves the family room 14' x 22'.   While that's still a 308 sq.ft. room, its proportions won't fit our intended use (or our furniture).

I called Vince to let him know.  He said, "No problem; we'll just move the back wall back another what, five feet?"  Yep.  And we'll lose one more of those forty-year-old oaks (the one in the picture).

Could we/should we have thought of this BEFORE the footings and foundation were poured?  Yep.  Sigh.... (kerching!)

    Watch this space....
