The 2016 HOB Wine Tour, Group #1

Wednesday, June 22nd

Today we spent the whole day in Healdsburg.  Healdsburg is two towns north of Santa Rosa in the Dry Creek Valley.

Our first winery of the day is a perennial favorite, Christopher Creek.  We've been there often but this will be the first time for Michelle, Bill, Dianne and Jay.

We were hosted by Marty, one of the family members who now own Christopher Creek.  We tasted in the barrel room and had a great time.

Next stop was Twomey where we had our first picnic lunch on their terrace; great view!

Twomey is the "sister" winery to Silver Oak (world-famous for its Cab).

Next we visited VML Winery named for the winemaker Virginia Marie Lambrix.

The wines are lovely and some commerce ensued.

Our next stop was J Vineyards & Winery.

Quite famous, lovely tasting room and quite pricey -- but our Signature Tasting appointment wasn't honored so we didn't spend much time here.  We won't be back next week.

The fifth (and last for today) is Gustafson Family Vineyards

We didn't visit the vineyards, we visited Steve in the tasting room; but here's the view from the vineyards:

Wow!

Well wine-sated, we had dinner at Willi's Seafood and Raw Bar (yep, the same folks as Willi's Wine Bar) on the square in downtown Healdsburg. Not surprising, not much wine was consumed!

That's it for today; FIVE more wineries tomorrow!
