Remember how I said that I have to involve everyone I know in any activity I find amusing? Well, Bill Donovan asked me what I knew about GPS (he's thinking of getting a receiver) so I opened up the "D'ya know about GeoCaching?" discussion. He didn't (he does now). So today I encouraged him to come with me to find the three closest caches to our home.

The first one was "Morgan Falls". Pete and I had driven close to this one on the day I got my receiver but it looked like a mile and half hike thorugh rough terrain. We didn't try it. But Bill has a Jeep and we were able to get much closer to the site.

The cache owner has it marked as 3-star terrain; for us over-60 old farts that wasn't high enough (though, looking back, I think it's right). We thrashed around for a long time not finding it; I wanted to quit but Bill persevered and eventually found it. The difficulty was that, as usual, once you get into the woods you lose signal. But, all's well that ends well. You can read my log entry on the cache page (link above).

The second of the day was substantially easier. We found the "A Blast from the Past" cache pretty easily; what a lovely spot -- and a relief from the trail associated with "Morgan Falls"! You can read my log entry on the cache page (link above).

Third (and last for the afternoon) was "Cookie Jar" hidden in a small park I didn't know existed. Took a while to find; the cache owner mentioned that there would be nearby (fenced) barking dogs. He was soooo right. You can read my log entry on the cache page (link above).

Today brings my "found caches" count to THIRTEEN.
