Esmeralda Rally III -- Spring, 1970 The third Esmeralda Rally was held with this group of rallyists assembled on May 23, 1970 at the same Welcome Station as before to run the course.  The fee went up to $30.00 per couple (the owners of the Esmeralda Inn took up the price when they discovered how eager we were to return!) This time we had help manning the checkpoints.  Arthur and Judy Lightfoot agreed to help and not to compete.  In later years, we drafted the prior Rally winners to help with checkpoints.  The movie for this one was The Hustler.
