It is with great sorrow that we write this letter to inform you that the Esmeralda was destroyed by fire on Tuesday, April 8, 1997 at 6:00 am. We were blessed that no one was in the building or that no one was hurt fighting the fire. We were devastated, but are trying very hard to be optimistic and look ahead to the "new" Esmeralda.
Our plans, of course, are to rebuild. We are trying to find different avenues of financing. Also, our staff, community and friends have been very supportive and have had many fund raisers to help us get going.
We hope to be able to recreate the unique character and ambiance of the Esmeralda. The Esmeralda is such a big part of this community and a part of so many people's lives. Everyone has a memory to tell about the Esmeralda and what it meant to them.
We will keep you informed of our plans and when the "new" Esmeralda will open. We hope you will come back and stay with us again and make new memories to add to the memories we all have of the Esmeralda.
Our beautiful gardens were not damaged and you are welcome to stop by and visit.
