Our Caravan to
Vettes On The Rockies (VOTR) 2006
Day 10: Monday, July 24, 2006
Breckenridge, Colorado
In order to get Gael two free spa treatments, we were obligated to listen to a time-share pitch from 9:00a to 10:30a this morning. That's why Ron and Robin (who are staying at Beaver Run Resort, a nearby property) were on their own. They hooked up with Buzz and Jackie who were staying... well, you can read about their day HERE..
We were right on time, expecting to be hot-boxed and pressured -- but it was a wonderful experience. The broker we met with, Brent Sorensen, turned out to be a font of useful information and he's a car guy and a motorcycle guy and so we spent a very pleasurable hour and half with him.
Some of you may know that Buzz and Jackie have a signficant Coca-Cola collection; turns out, Brent does, too. Here's a bike and sidecar he built from scratch:
I'm thinking Buzz and Jackie will enjoy seeing this photo.
Main Street is about five lonnnnng blocks and we walked it all, both ways. We had a great Mexican lunch at Fiesta Jalisco:
.. and visited the local grocery and liquor store before calling Dallas to come pick us up.
As you might expect, there are postcard vistas in all directions:
One of these days we're going to try this restaurant called "The Dredge":
We returned to the Lodge in time for Gael's 4:00p (free, YAY!) massage and for me to catch my breath. At 9600' above sea level, Breckenridge is a challenge for old fat guys.
We touched base by cellphone with the other couples and Buzz was able to upload pix and their story. I'm turning in early as all six of us have a road trip planned for tomorrow.
