The background color of this page exemplifies the weather. It was HOT!

HOT!

Our Atlanta weather had been rainy, humid and hot; it was doubtful on Friday whether the show would even come off on Saturday. But Saturday dawned partly cloudy and

HOT!

(I guess I've made the point).

This was my very first participation in a car show so I was a bit uneasy about the preparation required, the protocol and so forth. Ken Gaines, C5 Registry member and one of the organizers of this show, set my mind at ease and asked me to spread the word among the local C5 folks -- and that shook Don Danysh out of the tree.

Don agreed to show his '97 Silver C5 and keep me company; it was his first car show, too.

I chose to show my '64 Silver Roadster (the C5 was dirty). Here's Don and me getting ready:

Don owns a great looking poster of his car so he brought it along:

We were lucky that Ken Gaines was running the show so he couldn't compete. Here's Ken's cars with his recent trophies:

...I guess this is typical of car show prep guys; see, I thought the idea was to show the CAR:

So there we were, looking pretty good, when this guy Steve drives up in a '65 396 with side pipes and the prettiest blue-green paint I ever saw .. and he parks right next to me (sigh):

But..it gets worse. An enclosed trailer drives up and disgorges this '67 327 which is even nicer than the '65 (though the original green paint on this car isn't as pretty IMHO as the '65):

And would you believe another 65 396?:

Rounding out the Corvette exhibitors was this tricked out '75:

But the best news for me was that this absolutely perfect '59 was just visiting and wasn't in the show. Except that it's a '59, it's a dead ringer for my first Corvette (it was a '60):

Here's Don and Ken Gaines after the judging:

And this is me and my gleamin' '64:

There were about fifty entries in this show -- all kinds of cars. Neither Don nor I were big winners -- but, we DID both score in the Top 20 and got this nice plaque. Not bad for the first time out (for both of us).
