David & Debra Sharp's 1978 Corvette

(Alternate Participant)

Our Corvette was born in August of 1978 in St. Louis, MO. Its initial destination was Quality Chevrolet, Escondido, CA. The original owner moved from California to Virginia Beach and drove the car across country at that time. In March 1999 we purchased the car from it's second owner, who had only owned it for six months. He was temporarily living in Indy at the time and drove the car here from Virginia. Deciding he didn't have time to work on restoring it, he put it up for sale. We found it listed in a local "Cars for Sale" publication.

We have been into antique cars for 30 years and what interested us about this car was that even though it has relatively high mileage it remained original and with the exception of wear and tear, basically untouched over the years. After shopping around we came to the conclusion that this one was worth saving! This is our first Corvette, a mid-life crisis so to speak, and it has been a learning experience as we have worked toward restoring it.

Just getting out and driving our cars is what we love most about them. We enjoy touring and parades with our club, Circle City Corvette Club, Indianapolis, IN, and so far in the two years we have owned our Corvette we have driven it to Gatlinburg and to the Museum in Bowling Green as well as just cruising around town for fun.
