The car was discovered under a pile of aluminum gutter scrap in Pensacola, Florida on July 7, 1997. It had been "scrapped" for seven years! It really wasn't worth dragging home. The entire car from the Code 10L Classic White exterior to the Code 322 Blue Green interior had to be re-built. Jim says he felt compelled and duty-bound to resurrect the car and return it to its former glory. After a couple of years or busted knuckles and breathing fiberglass dust, the car's first road trip was to the National Corvette Museum. All of the restoration (resurrection) work was accomplished by the owner with the help of some club friends. The car has placed in several shows and was selected by C5R pilot, Ron Fellows, as his Celebrity Choice Award recipient at the 2001 C5 Birthday Bash. The car will be featured in the 25h Anniversary Edition of Vette Magazine in December 2001. Needless to say, the car won't be neglected again!
Jim's bride, Beth, told him once "If you ever sell this car, I'll kill you!" He figures to have it for a while! Jim says, "I never dreamed of the car being selected to participate in such a grand event. The Historic Motorama is, and will be, a once-in-a-lifetime event. It is truly an honor to have been chosen to participate."
