As a long time drag racer and Corvette owner since 1964 (especially high performace Corvettes), I had wanted a ZR-1 since their introduction. By 1994, the ZR-1 had become refined and more affordable, since dealers were no longer surcharging their customers. However, I had retired from government service and still had college tuitions to pay. It seemed I never would own a ZR-1, the ultimate performance car of the time. When my dealer called me to let me know that the car was available, it was a dream that had come true. It was previously owned, was 6 months old and had only 4000 miles on the odometer. At $24k below sticker, and after the first drive, I signed the papers in 15 minutes.
It has been a special Corvette and truly a great performer. Best quarter mile time has been 12.39 at 117mph. It was my everyday car for 6 years. I have truly enjoyed the ride.
