Bob & Barb Petersen's 1963 Corvette

(Primary Participant)

My son and I have a used car agency specializing in Corvettes. I opened the car lot in 1975 after going broke in a new car agency. I had no money and was selling old beaters. I needed something to distinguish my lot and borrowed a name I had seen ten years prior. I called it FAIRLY RELIABLE BOB'S! The name caught on and we have kept it until today. In the mid- to late-80's my oldest son got us into the CORVETTE business, as CORVETTES had been a passion of his since he was four years old riding around in the back of my then brand new white 66 roadster. Since our lot was on a corner, my son added "CORVETTE CORNER" to the name. FAIRLY RELIABLE BOB'S purchased the first LIFETIME CORPORATE NCM MEMBERSHIP in Idaho.

Long before I started FAIRLY RELIABLE BOB's, I was selling Chevys in San Francisco. I had the good fortune to sell the first brand new split-window sold in northern California. I sold it to a young man from Lodi. And, of course, it was Daytona Blue. You're starting to get the picture right? No, it's not the same car; but a couple of years ago, when another dealer stopped by to show his Corvette to my son who now runs the agency, my son said "You're not leaving here with that car!" Two hours later we owned it.

I have four sons who grew up in the car business, three of whom are still in business with me. The fourth became a doctor but he still loves cars and the car business. My only daughter was given a model split-window (Daytona Blue of course) long before I got the real one, and it became her favorite car. Mine is promised to her when I go to the big car lot in the sky , so it'll be around a long time.
