Hadrian Katz' 1984 Corvette

(Primary Participant)

Having been a Corvette fancier since boyhood, I ordered a 1984 as soon as I saw the first "You've Never Seen Anything Like This Before" C4 commercial. Manual transmissions being in short supply (some things never change), I did not receive delivery until Christmas 1983. The odometer now reads 62,235 miles, and except for the occasional Mr. Goodwrench, I have driven every one of them.

The only modification to the car was the addition an Audiovox CD-player, although the transmission has been replaced once and the clutch twice. The instrument panel has been repaired several times (of course).

With its mighty 205 HP L-83 engine, 4+3 transmission, Cross-Fire fuel injection, and first-generation pollution controls, the 1984 is probably the most underpowered Corvette ever built (something I only really came to understand when I bought my C5). It is a beautiful design, though, and the LCD gauges still delight me every day. The car has never been on a long trip, and I hope not to hold back the Motorama too much.
