While photographing the Corpus Christi (Texas) Corvette Club show and Corvettes on the flight deck of the vintage U.S.S.Lexington aircraft carrier for Vette Vues Magazine, I saw the red '86 Pace Car and put my card on the windshield indicating my interest in someday buying it. I followed up with Club members periodically even after the owner moved away. Then, 18 months later, he called to say he wanted to give me a first chance to buy
it. Barbara and I drove to see it and I rode the bus back to Beeville to pick it up. We have owned it since 1994. It is kept nice and garaged; yet,has been driven daily and throughout the vast reaches of Texas.
Hopefully, I will be able to find some of the VV photos. The car was also featured in the '96-'97 Mid-America Design Calendar in a massive whale wall scene by the acclaimed marine artist, Wyland, on the Gulf's South Padre Island. It is an honor to be selected Motorama alternate and as a NCM Ambassador, NCRS, NCCC, SACC member and official Corvette TM product licensee we cherish the once-in-a-lifetime privilege to participate in any manner.
