Chuck & Donna Hanner's 1982 Corvette

(Primary Participant)

Our 1982 Corvette is a one owner Corvette. We opted to order our Corvette. We liked the Silver Grey interior, and by comparing those tiny paint-colored squares, we decided on the Charcoal Grey exterior. Our Corvette was born mid-April 1982 in Bowling Green, Kentucky and delivered less than a week later to Bill Dunfee Chevrolet in Columbus, Indiana for pick-up.

As members of the National Corvette Restorers Society, we have had many fun adventures with our Corvette. In 1990, it was on the National Road Tour to Williamsburg, Virginia. It has also made several laps of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Its big adventure was the pursuit and achievement of NCRS' Duntov Award. It was the third 1982 Corvette to receive this award. It received both a Regional Top Flight (1996) and a Performance Verification (1997) at Regional Meets held at the National Corvette Museum. It received the coveted Duntov Award at the National Convention in Lake Placid, New York in 1997.

The car was then retired from life as a trailer queen and became a driver. In 1999, we began working on the NCRS Founder's Award. We once again drove the National Road Tour. A 180 mile, three-hour drive to Bowling Green, Kentucky from Southern Indiana became a 750 mile, three-day drive! The car saw a lot of Kentucky during those three days.

We have since moved to Colorado, so the Corvette now lives in the shadows of Pike's Peak and is a joy to drive on the paved, windy mountain roads. The horsepower is awesome when going up the mountain passes - the Corvette shows it is a true American Sports Car.
