Ken Farley's 1969 Corvette

(Alternate Participant)

I received notification that we were chosen as the alternative participant with our 1969 Corvette for the NCGM Historic Motorama this coming June. I sent in entries for two different 1969 models that I own. I hope this means that we could participate with either one. I am enclosing information on both.

We would greatly prefer to use the Daytona Yellow Convertible. It is presently under restoration, so a photo is not available at this time. It will be completed during late winter. The car has a black vinyl interior and black soft-top. It is equipped with the 427-435 and 4-speed. Other factory equipment include radio, power brakes, and side mount exhaust. I feel this Corvette would be much more 'photogenic' than the second one. I have owned this car since 1988, but have just recently transferred the title in anticipation of its completion.

The second is a Lemans Blue coupe (shown above) with the bright blue leather interior, that we have owned since 1986. It is an extremely highly documented originally Canadian- delivered L88 model that I restored myself in 1987/1988. Additional factory equipment include M22 trans, HD brakes and suspension, T&T steering, power brakes, and P02 wheelcovers. This Corvette has received a Bloomington Gold award, as well as the NCRS Top Flight, PV, and Duntov Awards. These awards were all in the early 1990's. It is not however, strictly a "pretty face". With the addition of open headers and drag slicks, it has covered the 1/4 mile with an ET of 11.8 @ 122 MPH. The problem with using this car for the Motorama is getting super-hi octane leaded gas on the road and its 7.3 MPG appetite. After giving this much thought, I decided that if we were to participate with this car, I would need to build a different 427 for the car with lower compression and less cam.

Is what I have in mind acceptable? Being I am an alternate, is there any speculation as to how much advance notice would be possible?. My son, Chris, has been chosen as an alternate with our 1965 Corvette. If we are chosen to participate with the '65, or the above mentioned '69 convertible, very much lead time would not be needed. However, if we were called upon to participate with the L88, it would take me several weeks to prepare the car.

Chris and I are looking forward to the possibility of of being able to participate.
