Dan & Karen Disch's 1997 Corvette

(Primary Participant)

I became a full fledged Corvette nut when I worked part time at a Chevy garage during and after high school. I can still remember sitting in the "78" Indy Pace Car that was on the showroom floor. Occasionally I would get to take one out for a test spin after some maintenance work was completed. I decided then that some day I would own one.

Over the next 15 years I had a few near misses, one on a "63" split window. Then, 2 years ago the timing was finally right (read I finally had the cash) and Karen, wise woman that she is, suggested that I buy a Corvette. Well, that was all I needed to hear and I started looking around for a nice project car, something in an early C3. Karen then suggested that I should get something that we could enjoy now instead of 5 years from now when I got the project finished (she is wise beyond her years). So, I started looking around at C5's. I drove by the dealership near our home just to see what they might have and there was a Fairway Green 97. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. I got Karen's approval and we brought it home last June. I know that green isn't for everyone but we sure like it and it always gets compliments when I drive it.

We are very excited about representing the first year of the C5 in the Motorama and very much look forward to meeting everyone.
