My 1969 Corvette came into my "family" of cars in 1999. I had negotiated its purchase from the previous owner over the summertime and took possession of it in Nov. and drove it home to FL from MI. @ that time! It is rather special in that it was built on the second to last day of production for 1969 Corvettes and considered to be one of the last 427's ever built! it is equipped with a 4 speed and factory air (which is a rare way for a Corvette of that era to be optioned) and I am THRILLED that it is what it is!!>[?
On an interesting side note: after purchasing it I was tracking its history and I have located and spoken with ALL its previous owners (four) and mechanics! The gentleman who owned it the longest is now retired and living in the Tampa area and got together with me to see the car. He hadn't seen it in over Ten Years!! He also gave me a ride in his open cockpit aerobatic biplane, which was SUCH A TREAT! In addition to this thrill I had another in that I now know that my being a part of this special vehicle's history was meant to be. One morning I ran across a lone edition of a Hemmings Motor News I had saved (Lord only knows for what reason!) and decided it would be fun to see what '69 Vettes were going for in 1993. I opened to the appropriate section and started to look for similar vehicles within and found a '69 427 T-Top. As I read the ad further I discovered it was optioned and colored identically to mine! Lo & behold upon reading the name and phone number of the seller I found it was the THIRD owner of my car!! You can't imagine what a help that was to me, as upon a little detective work I was able to then easily contact all the previous owners as well!!
I'm honored to be part of such a historic event!
