Robert Bush's 1994 Corvette

(Primary Participant)

    The history of my '94

As far as I know, I am just the second owner of my car, buying it in 1997 from a broker in Arkansas. This was my first Corvette and when I began looking for it, I had just one criteria - it had to be a manual transmission car. I was living in Oklahoma at the time but my best friend was a car dealer in Arkansas. He was the one who got me hooked on Corvettes many years ago, letting me drive his '75 L-82 4 speed Z07 car. He knew that I was really looking hard and so he helped me find different cars there in central Arkansas that might work. Every weekend for about six weeks, I would leave after work on Friday afternoon, drive out to Arkansas and look at cars. We knew about the Black Rose coupe from the beginning but we never were able to schedule it so that the broker and I could get together. Finally, we were able to have him drive it by my friend's car lot for him to inspect. He and another friend looked it over thoroughly and gave me the good news that it looked like a good car. I sent him the money and bought the car without ever having driven it myself or seeing it.

I picked it up the next weekend and it's been a four year love affair. I had always heard that you don't find a Corvette, it finds you and now I believe it.

I have put nearly 100K miles on the car (it has a total of 150K miles now). I've been lucky. I 'met' the NCM at their booth at Bloomington in June of '97 and quickly decided to do Labor Day. I immediately joined the NCM as a Founding Member and made that and every Labor Day since. I also got to do the "Return to the Route" caravan across Oklahoma on Route 66 with GM when they introduced the '98 Convertible. I was co-captain of the 5th Anniversary NCM caravan from SE Texas/LA (though I had to borrow a Corvette to do that in as my car was in the shop.)

I became a Lifetime member of the NCM in '99 (just in time to get reserved parking for the 5th Anniversary Celebration). I am a member of three clubs, Tri-City Corvette Club out of Beaumont, TX, Corvettes of Arkansas, LTD., and the C5 Fighter Squadron.

I was totally amazed when I saw my car had been selected for the Motorama. This is truly a once in a lifetime experience and I am already working on the car to get it ready for the trip.
