Bill Buck's 1955 Corvette

(Primary Participant)

My 1955 Corvette was purchased out of San Diego, CA and was the Vette that was photographed in the July/August ‘97 Special Interest Autos Magazine - drive report. It is rumored to also be the vehicle that was tested in 1955 by Motor Trend Magazine’s report on the NEW V8 offered in the start of the 1955 model year!

It is equipped with all the original parts including the 265 C.I./195 H.P. engine and Powerglide Automatic Transmission. This particular 1955 is fully equipped for that year with AM signal seeking radio, heater, directional signals, windshield washers, parking brake alarm, courtesy lights, and whitewall tires! It is 1 of 180 out of a total of only 700 Corvettes produced that year that was Gypsy Red with a Beige fabric top and Light Beige interior.

NCRS records hint that only approximately 350 of these 1955s are left, so I feel very lucky to have one that is in such pristine condition.

I have been a Chevrolet dealer since Jan. of 1947 when I opened a dealership in Dewitt, MI and I am still coming in almost everyday to my dealership in Venice, FL (which my son now runs) except when I am out enjoying my free time traveling.

I have been driving Corvettes since 1956 and I am more excited now to be traveling in the 50th Anniversary Motorama than I was that first time I got behind the wheel in ‘56!
